Saints Pound Corning to Advance to Region 3 Final Four

SARANAC LAKE — North Country Community College will be moving on in the NJCAA Region III women's basketball tournament.

The second-seeded Saints topped Corning Community College, 73-48, in a quarterfinal Tuesday at the Sparks Athletic Complex.

North Country advanced to the semifinals, where it faces No. 3 Fulton Montgomery at 2 p.m. Saturday at Onondaga Community College.

 The Saints led by just 11 points at halftime before outscoring their opponent, 34-20, in the second half.

Jasmine Cruse and Kayla Carder both scored 22 points to power North Country, and Ty Taylor added an additional 12 points and nine assists.

"Jasmine Cruse and Kayla Carder really dominated the game (Tuesday) on the inside," Saints coach Jerrad Dumont said. "They combined for a total of 34 rebounds and 44 points.

"Ty Taylor did a great job of controlling the basketball."
