NEWTON, Mass. — The North Country Community College women's basketball team had some crucial defensive stops in the fourth quarter en route to a 60-53 win over Pine Manor College Saturday.
The Saints' Kayla Carder led all scorers with 23 points. Jasmine Cruse tallied 12 points.
"It was a great game on both sides," North Country coach Jerrad Dumont said. "We really struggled to score. We missed some open shots, but Pine Manor made us feel uncomfortable.
"Hayley Lewis hit a very big 3-point shot with 1:18 left in the game to give us a six-point cushion. This gave us some good energy because after she hit that shot, they went on to only score one point for the rest of the game."
