Tucker Leads Lady Saints Past Finger Lakes

CANANDAIGUA — Romeira Tucker snaked her way through three defenders, scoring the go-ahead layup with 10 seconds to lift the North Country Community College women's basketball team past Finger Lakes 65-64 Sunday.

Brooke Howell then secured the game with a rebound. Tucker finished with 20 points, five assists and three steals to lead the Saints.

North Country coach Jerrad Dumont said Keniyah Barksdale gave the Saints a spark off the bench, hitting two big three-pointers in the fourth quarter.

North Country outscored the Lakers 22-9 in the third quarter.

"We shared the ball (in that third quarter)," Dumont said. "We knocked down shots, and we made layups. We talked about making those easy layups and hitting open shots."

D'Amonte Cancel also recorded double figures with 12 points.

For Finger Lakes, Megan Howell (17) and Ranaveya Richards (15) combined for 32 points.

The Saints will face Paul Smith's College on the road Nov. 15 at 5 p.m.
