Saints Crush Word of Life

SARANAC LAKE — The North Country Community College women's basketball team saw plenty of offense against Word of Life Tuesday.

The Saints downed the Wolves 80-30, seeing scoring contributions from multiple players.

Brooke Howell paced North Country with 12 points, while Yuasinia Robinson totaled 11.

Saints coach Jerrad Dumont said his team wanted to put its struggles from its past weekend in Mohawk Valley behind and was able to do by playing with a strong amount of energy.

"I think that we were tired last weekend. We had a rough weekend, and we wanted to get that out of our head," Dumont said. "We were really energized, and we wanted to get things going again."

North Country led 47-14 at halftime and extended its lead in the second half, outscoring Word of Life 21-5 in the third quarter and 12-11 in the fourth quarter.

The Saints will return to action when they travel to face Corning Community College Saturday at noon.

Dumont said North Country's most recent game can provide a momentum boost and noted that his team needs to maintain a high-energy level.

"We need to be high intensity," Dumont said. "We need to be ready to go every day and have that same energy we had (Tuesday)."

The Saints are on the road this weekend to take on Corning CC and Finger Lakes CC on Saturday and Sunday.
