#7 Ranked Saints knock of #3 Ranked Lazers

After jumping out to a 36-32 lead at halftime, No. 7 North Country never looked back as it went on to take down the No. 3-ranked Lazers, 82-65, on their home court.

Following the victory, Saints coach Jerrad Dumont said he couldn't be more proud of the performance that his team displayed against Onondaga (8-2).

"It feels pretty amazing. It's the biggest win in school history, and I'm still in shock. I think the girls played really hard," Dumont said. "I thought the key to the game was rebounding. I knew that we could defend them, but I just thought our rebounding was phenomenal."

For the game, the Saints (8-0) outrebounded Onondaga, 49-33.

Other than North Country's stellar performance on the glass, the Saints also had another bright spot to their game – Simonemmerson Roberts.

In Coach Dumont's opinion, the entire team deserves credit for Roberts' big game.

In total, Roberts hit eight threes from all over the court to go on to an epic 42 point performance.  She also finished with 8 rebounds and 3 assists

"She just leads us offensively, but I think the big shout-out goes to the team for getting her the ball and not caring who shoots," Dumont said. "There's not a selfish person on this team."

With the win now behind them, Dumont is looking forward to what the rest of the season has in store for his team. If all goes as planned, the head man believes his team will be back at Onondaga later on in the season.

"I'm very, very excited," Dumont said. "I hope we're on that same exact court later this season playing for the championship."

North Country is set to take on Cayuga Community College today at Cazenovia College. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
