SARANAC LAKE — The North Country Community College women's basketball team was able to outlast No. 2 Mohawk Valley Community College 74-69 in overtime Saturday.
The Saints (14-4) snapped the Hawks' 11 game-winning streak, handing them their first loss in Region III play.
Ty Taylor (21) and Bridget Rust (16) combined for 37 points to lead North Country.
"We played within ourselves," North Country coach Jerrad Dumont said.
"Everyone played like they could and did their job. Everybody understood their role and what they had to do."
Dumont said Taylor and Aaliyah McCrae really helped the Saints control the pace of the game.
"I'm really impressed with Taylor's performance. Our bigs also did a good job inside, holding Mohawk Valley to one shot."
