Lady Saints Stay Perfect

The Saints Women's Soccer team exploded for seven second half goals en route to a 9-0 victory over Jefferson CC on Wednesday. The win moves the Saints to a perfect 6-0 start to the season.

Skyelin Bradford opened the scoring for the Saints in the first half on a great thru-ball from Jenny Dejung. Less than two minutes later, her linemate Mikenna Valentine made it 2-0 on a beautiful give and go with Chloe Flannaghan

"We didn't have the best half, but we were consistent with our effort and managed to take control before halftime." said Coach Kent Egglefield. "Sky and Mikenna have been dominant all year. We lean on them to set the tone."

Just 3:30 into the second stanza, Carlijn van der Smeede sent a corner into the box that was perfectly flicked on by Bradford to a wide ope Chloe Flannaghan for a 3-0 lead.

From there on the Saints kept their foot on the gas putting six more up on the board. Skelin Bradford (2), Alyssa Summo, Natasha Furzer, Flannaghan (2), Serena Stevens, and Emily Jablonski would all tally for the Saints.

Alison Van Schaik, who was today named Region III Player of the week for last weeks efforts, turned aside 4 shots for her fourth consecutive shutout.

The Siants outshot Jefferson 18-4.

North Country returns home for a pair of Region III matchups this weekend with Onondaga and Hudson Valley. Both games start at 1pm.

Our GOAT of the game today is Serena Stevens who played a strong, consistent game throughout, while also adding her first goal of the year on a beautiful header. Congrats to you Serena! We're proud of you!
