The North Country Saints women continued their perfect start to the season with a decisive 9-0 win over Word of Life.

Chloe Flannaghan opened the scoring just 50 seconds in for the Saints on a great individual effort. Carlijn van der Smeede then scored two straight as the Saints took a 3-0 lead into the half.

"We were very sluggish in the first half and got away from what makes us truly successful," Saints Coach Kent Egglefield said. "We composed ourselves at halftime and got back to doing what we do well. We controlled the pace and got back to fundamentals."

The Saints struck six times in the second half to blow the game open. Alyssa Summo and Skyelin Bradford each scored two goals, Mikenna Valentine and Emily Jablonski each added a goal. Valentine also added 3 assists, while Chloe Flannaghan and Alyssa Summo each had 2 assists, Sky Bradford and Emily Jablonski 1 each.

Alison Van Schaik posted her second straight shutout turning away 6 shots.

The Saints hit the road this weekend for a pair of games, first versus Vermont Tech on Saturday, followed by Columbia Greene on Sunday.

Our GOAT of the game today goes to our Keeper, Alison Van Schaik. Not only did she post another shutout, but her confidence and demeanor helped steady a shaky start by the Saints defense. Congrats Ali! We're proud of you!
