Saints Take Down Fifth Ranked Herkimer

The Saints women's soccer team struck early and often Wednesday, upending nationally ranked Herkimer 7-3. 

North Country Scored 1:08 into the game as Skyelin Bradford converted a cross from Mikenna Valentine

Only nine minutes later Carlijn van der Smeede scored a beautiful header off a cross from Abby Hart

Bradford then set up Valentine for the first of her two goals to make it 3-0. Bradford would finish the first half scoiring for the Saints after a pair of goals from the Generals to make it 4-2 at the break. 

In the second half, the same three scored again as Valentine scored her second on a breakaway. van der Smeede would add her second, bending a corner kick into The back of the net. Bradford would secure her Hat-Trick with the final goal of the game. 

Bradford finished the day with 3 goals and 2 assists, Valentine 2 goals and an assist, van der Smeede 2 goals, Chloe Flannaghan  chipped in 2 assists, and Abby Hart 1. Alison Van Schaik made 9 saves in net for the Saints. 

"We controlled the midfield from start to finish." said Head Coach Kent Egglefield. "Chloe, Alyssa (Summo), Serena (Stevens), Jenny (Dejung), and Carlijn were great today." 

"Marie Sibbing turned in a great performance on D. And Ali was strong and confident in net." added Egglefield. "We were just solid everywhere, everyone."

The Saints main goal today was to establish their identity for the season with a signature victory. 

"I think we accomplished that pretty loudly." 

The Saints take the road for an away game at Adirondack CC on Saturday. Game time is 1:00pm.
