Saints Playoff Run Ends in Semi-Finals

HERKIMER, NY – Facing the only team to give them a loss all season, the #1 Herkimer Generals women's soccer team avenged #8 North Country at home on Wednesday (10/27), defeating the Saints 4-0 to advance to the Region III Championship game.

"We came out kinda flat." Saints Coach Kent Egglefield said. "We didn't play bad, but we didn't play good either."

The Generals scored three goals in the first half, all by different players, Nicole Doolen, Kalli Warmingham, and Teigha Ward. Micaela Blanca scored the lone second half goal.

Two of their first three goals were scored on direct kicks.

"We said before the game that if we could hold out the first 10 minutes we'd be ok. We knew how bad they wanted us." said Egglefield. "Unfortunately, they got one 5 minutes in and never looked back."

The Saints season ends with the semi-final loss, but Egglefield was quick to praise his teams accomplishments this season. "What we did this year was amazing. Home playoff win, semi-final appearance, three all-stars, Morgan's scoring record... so much good happened this year. I couldn't be more proud."

Morgan Fountain finished her career with a school record 35 goals and 20 assists.  As the season comes to an end, we'd like to thank all of our parents, fans, students, and faculty that supported us this season. A special thanks to Jerrad Dumont and our gameday staff, and of course our AD Chad LaDue for all of his support and encouragement. Thank you everyone! Its been an amazing season!
