
Saranac Lake- The North Country Saints women's basketball team beat Herkimer Community College 74-65 Tuesday night to open up the Region 3 regular season with a win.
"Coming from a long lay off of thirteen days between games i was a little worried about rust." said Saints Head Coach Roger Long. "It showed. We missed shots in the first half we usually make."
North Country was held to 26 points in the first half and trailed by two into the break.
Fortunately the second half those shots started to fall for the Saints as they put up 48 points.
"In a highly contested game, we showed our determination and grit, pulling away down the stretch." added Long.
Alaysia Bradford and Amiyah Nguyen led the way in the fourth quarter scoring 9 points and 8 points respectivley. Jateria Jackson led the Saints with a game high 15 points, followed by Nyugen with 13 and Bradford with 12. NCCC's bench also came up huge outscoring Herkimer 21-4.
