With a win over Adirondack CC on Wednesday, the Saints clinched a share of the Mountain Valley Conference Championship. The Saints share the conference regular season championship with Herkimer College who they split with throughout the year. "I am very happy for this group and how hard they have worked throughout the season, it seems that we continue to improve each day. Most importantly we are glad that we are playing our best basketball going into the playoffs."
With a 17-3 record and 12 new faces for the 2021-2022 season the Saints are now headed back to the Region III Tournament. After winning back-to-back regional championship in 2019 and 2020 the Saints were forced to take a year off because of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
The #2 seeded Saints, although young, have strong leadership in two-time Region III Athlete-of-the-Week Lavender Ward (Charleston, WV/South Charleston HS). Ward, an All-Region III selection in the 2020 season and the Saints will receive a bye in the first round of playoffs on Saturday February 19th. The Saints will play host on Tuesday, February 22nd at 5:00 PM in Sparks Athletic Complex against the winner of the #7 Broome Hornets and #10 Cayuga Spartans.
"I am very happy to be back in the playoffs with this group. They are a group of hard workers that play very well together as a team. We plan to continue our staunch defense and active rebounding to help advance us deep into the playoffs this season."
