The North Country Community College women's basketball team knocked off nationally ranked Mohawk Valley Community College Saturday November 8th with a 65-51 victory. Mohawk Valley, who was ranked #7 nationally really worked hard for every point throughout the game.
North Country started the game on a 15-4 run, really knocking Mohawk on their heals. However, after some adjustments from the Hawks, they kept fighting and ended up trailing 33-26 at the half. In the second half the Hawks would pull to within two of the Saints with about 11 minutes to go before the Saints would go on a run and finish the contest with a 65-51 victory.
The Saints were led by two people in double figures. First, Simone Roberts led the way with 28 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists while Courtney Boyea who finsihed the game with 11 points scored all eleven of them in the second half.
After the game, coach Dumont stated: "I was very impressed with our defense throughout the entire game, holding a nationally ranked opponent to only 51 points". "We struggled to score in a lot of different ways throughout the game but they just didn't have an answer for Simone, she made plays throughout the entire game".
The Saints who improve to 2-0 will host Word of Life Bible institute on Tuesday November 11th at 5:00 PM.
