Saints Men Drop First Game of the Season

Saints Men Drop First Game of the Season

Just finally getting on the field for the first time this season was a win in itself for the Saints Men's Soccer Team Saturday. And though the final score in the loss to Adirondack Community College doesn't reflect it, the Saints were able to take a lot of positives out of their 8-0 loss.

"July 1st we didn't have a men's team" said Saints Coach Kent Egglefield. "Since the time I took over, we've scrambled to keep this season alive. We literally just got a full roster on Wednesday, and two practices later, we're playing a Region III game."

Saints Captain Keith Vivlamore added, "It went a lot better than I thought it would. We played a hard 90 minutes with a short bench. We have a lot of inexperienced players that stepped up to make this season happen and I thought  they adjusted well as the game went on. Just great to be out there and watch the team come together after such a short period of time."

John Miller played the first 60 minutes in net making 12 saves and Sebastian Smith finished the last 30 recording 4.

"John and Sebastian played great in net. I'm really proud of their effort." said Egglefield. "And I can't say enough about Will Anderson's game today. He was a work horse on defense."

"I'm beyond proud of the effort these boys put in to this game. We started three players with zero experience and they adjusted incredibly well. As long as we keep improving game by game, this season will be a win."

The Saints play their first home game of the season Wednesday vs. Word of Life. Gametime is 4pm.
