January Athlete of the Month

The North Country Saints Male Athlete of the Month for January is Ziquan Roe of the Men's Basketball Team. During the month, the sophomore center averaged 7.1 ppg, 8.0 rpg, and 2.2 bpg. Known for his dominant defense and rebounding, Zi showed his steady contribution in a 77-51 win over Cayuga in which he had 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 blocked shots. He also had an 18-point, 8-rebound game against Fulton Montgomery.  On the season, Ziquan stands second in the region with 65 blocked shots. He averages 6.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. Ziquan’s contributions to the Saints go far beyond his stats. Roe has served as one of the Saints Captains this season and has developed into a game changer on defense. His presence in the lane helps keep the other teams shooters off balance and forces them to alter their shots with his defensive ability. He plays with passion, energy, and heart. Ziquan is a Criminal Justice major from Jersey City, NJ. He is the son of Tajheia Roe.
