SARANAC LAKE — Mathew Acosta (16) and Paul Aversa (14) combined for 30 points to help the North Country Community College men's basketball team to a 61-60 win over Clinton Community College Thursday.
The Cougars' Rijkaard Jean Baptiste (16), Mathew Smiley (16) and Emmanuel Overo (11) all finished in double figures for the Cougars.
The Saints led, 33-24, at the half.
"It was a highly contested game throughout," North Country coach Daryl Crist said. "North Country led at halftime and was able to sustain the lead throughout the second half. Both teams played extremely hard, and I'm very proud of how my guys responded."
