Saints win 92-78 over Clinton in Region III opener

The Saints were led by freshman Peyton McLaurin. The Erie, Pa., native totaled 23 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, and second year standouts Frane Larose poured in 18 points and added seven assists with fellow classmate Brian Donaire chipping in with 16points and 17 rebounds.

"There was some good (and) there was some bad," North Country coach Chad LaDue said. "I liked the fact that we kept fighting and we kept working hard. We made some mistakes that, early in the year, you're going to make.

"All in all, I was pleased with how we shared the basketball and, for the most part, how we played."

LaDue said he had two starters, who didn't play from the 12-minute mark on, in foul trouble. It allowed Clinton to get back in the game.

"It gave us a chance to spread the floor, a little bit, with our five guards," LaDue said. "I thought that we were able to close (things) out.

"I think the key to the game was when we, actually, went big. We went in with Malik Green, and he had seven points for us in about a five-minute stretch."
