The Saint's keep it going on the road with win over Cayuga

CAZENOVIA — For a second consecutive day, the North Country men's basketball team found itself on the winning side of the score column.  Trailing by one at halftime, the Saints (6-4) were able to claw their way back to come away with a 67-62 victory over Cayuga Community College Sunday afternoon.

North Country coach Chad LaDue said he was pleased with his team's effort in what he called a "very physical" game.

"It was a tough one," LaDue said. "We struggled offensively with their length and size. It was just one of those games where we had to keep plugging away."

Trailing the Spartans (2-8) at the start of the second half, the Saints were able to regain the lead by creating more pressure on defense, which came from the likes of Sam Johns and Randall Saintilus.

On the offensive end, North Country was led by Ivan Grcic, who tallied 18 points and knocked down four of his six three-point shots in the second half.

The Saints now sights set on Thursday's game at 7:30 p.m. against Fort Drum at home.

Moving forward, LaDue feels good about what his team was able to accomplish over the weekend.

"Anytime you get two wins in our region on the road, it's a pretty good weekend," LaDue said.
