The Saints fall in OT to Mohawk Valley

North Country Community College took one of the top teams in the region to overtime Saturday.  Unfortunately, the Saints ran out of gas as Mohawk Valley captured a 101- 90 victory in the extra session.

"They're one of the top three or four teams in the region," Saints coach Chad LaDue said. "I thought we played extremely hard."

North Country trailed at the half, 48-40, but managed to fight its way back to take the lead with about 1:10 to go when Ege Cinel hit a three to put the Saint's up one.  North Country had the ball with 12 seconds to go in the game and Ege had a shot to win it.

Cinel led the charge for North Country with 28 points. Michael Boyea added 20 points and six assists, while Clement Gibson finished with 11 points. Thomas Barnes chipped in with 10 points.

"I told the team we were going to find out a lot about ourselves and how much we learned from our opening night game with Clinton," LaDue said. "We have a bunch of fighters that know how to compete.

"I am very proud of them."

The Saints are back at it Tuesday at 7 p.m. when they take on Word of Life.
