Women’s Volleyball Preseason Opens

Saints Volleyball players reported for preseason on August 20 after a busy summer of work and training. The team has been practicing twice daily to prepare for its first contest in a scrimmage against College of St. Joseph at Sparks Athletic Complex on Aug. 30.

"This group has speed and power," said Coach Susan Waters. "We're strong at the service line and our hitters are versatile."

Returning to Saranac Lake where she played Red Storm Varsity volleyball is hitter Katie Burgess.

From Section X, outside hitter Savannah Fiorino led her Chateauguay Bulldogs in kills and Mandy Burnett was starting setter for Brushton-Moira. Defensive player Marli Connors played for Massena's strong volleyball program.

From Central New York, Anganese Gomez led her Fort Plain team in service aces and started as a middle hitter. Rebecca Reyes is a libero from Bainbridge Guilford High School.

Three-sport returning athlete Jadeen Chisolm from Australia will round out the team as middle blocker.

"We expect some competitive matches," said Waters. "Fans can expect some scrappy defense from this motivated team."

The Saints' first home match is Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. against Hudson Valley Community College.
