Saints Suffer Tough Loss to Onondaga

The Saints dropped a heart-breaker Sunday falling 2-1 to Onondaga Community College.

The Saints played a very strong first half holding a large margin of the possession time.

"That was our best half of the season." stated Saints Head Coach Kent Egglefield.

Leading 1-0 at the half on a Kate Stevens goal, the Saints carried over their dominant possession into the second. Things turned for the worst for the Saints after leading scorer Danielle Charland left with an injury after being taken down from behind. Just moments later, Stevens would also go down with a significant injury on a hard tackle. Neither would return to the game. Saints 2nd leading scorer Alicia Cook also missed a good portion of the second half with a knee injury, but returned to finish.

Onondaga took advantage and was awarded a PK a few moments later to not the score at 1-1. OCC would score the game winner just 10 minutes later.

Despite the loss, Egglefield was very proud of his team's effort.

"You see three starting forwards go down and its easy to say its over. But we never gave up, the girls pressed hard, we just couldn't get the equalizer."

"That was one of the toughest and most physical games i've seen in 9 years here." said Egglefield.
