Saints Close out 2016 With 6th Consecutive Win on Senior Night

The North Country Women's Soccer team closed out its 2016 season with its sixth straight win and fifth consecutive shutout with a 5-0 victory over Clinton Community College. Celebrating Senior Night, the Siants honored their ten graduating players before the game. Shelby Egnaczyk, Jenny Ward, Taylor Winch, Alexa Whitney, Cheyenne Blair, Laura Stanton, Jade Larkins, Jadeen Chisholm, Melissa Moody, and Chloe Remoundos were all honored pregame for North Country.

"Its so hard to say goodbye to this group," said Saints Coach Kent Egglefield. "They have meant everything to this program and replacing them is going to be tough, not just on the field. These are amazing young ladies."

On the field the Saints got goals from Audrie Prusinowski, Jasmin Barnes, Chloe Nott, Remoundos, and Blair as they delivered a balanced scoring attack. Shelby Egnaczyk recorded her 5th consecutive shutout and 6th in her last seven games with two saves. On the day, NCCC outshot Clinton 20-2.

"I'll never be able to replace what Shelby has done for this team, this program, and for me." stated Egglefield. "For two seasons, she's been my rock. I am going to miss the security of knowing she's in the nets."

The Saints finished the season in a four-way tie for the final two playiff spots, but lost out on head to head results. They finish the season at 9-7.

"This season has been interesting. With the playoff field cut this year we knew we couldn't afford too many slips. Unfortunately, a lot of injuries and a lot of growing pains early on cost us a chance. But this team grew, and they came together. We just peaked at the wrong time."

The Saints return a strong core of freshman next year and hope to build on their end of the season success.
