The Saints Women's Soccer team was Nott to be denied on Saturday as they pulled off a 2-1 upset of Hudson Valley CC. Freshman Chloe Nott's second direct kick provided the game winner with just over seven minutes remaining as the Saints won their third in a row.
After trailing at the half 1-0, the Saints came out hard and forced the play for much of the second half. Nott's first goal, also on a direct kick, tied the game 14 minutes into the half at 1 each.
"She couldn't have placed it better." said Saints Coach Kent Egglefield. "She missed a PK in the first half and she wanted it. Just a great shot."
After battling back and forth for much of the rest of the half, freshman Alissa Snider was taken down just at the top of box with under 8 minutes to play. Nott stepped up again and placed the game-winner in the upper left corner for her second goal of the game.
Shelby Egnaczyk was strong in goal with 8 saves on the day. The Saints outshot the Vikings 14-9.
"This was a huge win for us." Egglefield stated. "We are right back in the playoff race and now, hopefully with a little help, we can still get there."
Saints Captain Jenny Ward added, "I am so proud of how hard all the girls played today. We needed a big win and everyone knew it and came out ready to play. Its a great win for us."
The Saints take on rival Clinton Community College Thursday night at 5:30pm at Plattsburgh State Field House.
