Women's Soccer Takes Down Feisty Huskies

The North Country Saints Women's Soccer team held of a feisty, upstart Word of Life team with a 3-0 victory Monday afternoon at Sparks Athletics Complex.

After playing out a scoreless first half in which the Saints outshot the Huskies 14-0, the Saints found the back of the net with 27 minutes remaining for a 1-0 lead. Jasmin Barnes scored the first goal after a great pass from Kate Stevens

"We just kept shooting and shooting and couldn't beat their keeper." said Saints Coach Kent Egglefield. "Finally when Jazz scored that first one it was like a huge weight lifted off of us."

Eighteen minutes later, Saints Captain Jenny Ward put the game away putting home a scramble in front. Kate Stevens would add another insurance marker with just a minute to go in the game. The Saints outshot the Huskies 34-1 on the day with Shelby Egnaczyk recording 1 save in net for the shutout.

"That was a tremendous performance by their keeper, one of the best I've seen." stated Egglefield.

"Their goalie was tremendous, but we need to focus on shot placement and put the ball in the net when we have opportunities." said Saints Captain Taylor Winch

The Saints return to action Thursday at 4pm at home vs. Paul Smith's College.
