Saints Suffer First Defeat of Season

The Saints win streak came to an end with a tough loss to Jefferson CC 4-0 on Wednesday. JCC opened the scoring just 5 minutes in converting a breakaway on Saints keeper Shelby Egnaczyk. The Saints had several opportunities to tie the game but couldln't find the back of the net. After the half, JCC tallied again just 5 minutes into the 2nd for a 2-0 lead. They added insurance markers at the 78th and 88th minutes to close out the scoring. On the day, the Saints outshot the Cannoneers 15-11 but couldn't beat GK Katie Aldrich. "Aldrich, made some key saves to keep us off the board, but we also kept shooting right to her. A big keeper like that you gotta get on the ground. I don't think we did that once." stated Coach Kent Egglefield. "We were so flat and lethargic to start the game we never could recover. They took it right to us, and we had no response, no energy." The Saints are back on the road this Saturday at SUNY Broome.
