Lady Saints Fall to No. 1 Mohawk in Regionals

UTICA — In what was a close game throughout, the Hawks outscored the Saints 22-6 in the fourth quarter to take control of the game and capture a win.

North Country possessed an early lead, but Mohwak Valley was able to secure the advantage as the game moved on before pulling away in the final quarter.

"They got out and ran on us in the fourth quarter," Saints coach Jerrad Dumont said. "We had opportunities and chances to take the lead. We were ahead 12-10 in the first quarter and kept it close until that fourth."

Despite the loss, Dumont said his team played together and well as a unit.

"I am happy with the girls," he said. "I thought we played the most together we played all year and the most team-oriented game we have played all year where everybody touched it and shared it.

"We executed our game plan, and it was really about the team, so I was very happy with that."

Amanda Smith scored a game-high 20 points for Mohawk Valley.

Sydney Craig and D'Amonte Cancel tied for a team-high nine points.
