Saints Smack Hudson Valley on Senior Night

SARANAC LAKE — A third-quarter offensive outburst powered the North Country women's basketball team to a 69-49 victory against Hudson Valley Monday.

The Saints outscored the Vikings 32-11 in the third and saw Romeira Tucker put on a show from behind the arc, knocking down four 3-pointers.

Tucker paced North Country with a team-high 20 points.

"We did not shoot the ball really well to start the game," Saints coach Jerrad Dumont said. "Things got a little physical in the second half, and I think that helped us gain some control and put points up in the third quarter."

On Sophomore Night, Dumont acknowledged what the sophomore class has meant to the team this season.

"They are one of the most improved groups of sophomores I have coached, and they have continued to improve on and off the court, which is really important."

Shelby Dugan finished with a game-high 26 points to lead the Vikings' offense.

North Country will wrap up its regular season with a matchup at 3 p.m. on the road against Herkimer before moving on to the playoffs.

"We need to focus on rebounding and making sure we take good shots every time," Dumont said. "Sticking with what we do there and just working to stick together as a team will be important moving forward."
