Saints Take Two in Regional Play

The North Country community college women's basketball team hosted Corning and Finger Lakes community college over the weekend.

On Saturday the Saints led the Corning Red Barons 24-9 before going on to collect the victory 52-40.

"We really played tough defensively in the entire game but sometimes we go in stretches where we can't score the basketball and this really hurts us," Coach Dumont stated after the game.  "I think that we need to work on sharing the basketball and creating for others, doing this should really help us limit these scoring droughts."

The Saints were led by six players that scored between five and ten points. Sydney Craig again led the Saints with another double digit performance. (10)

On Sunday against Finger Lakes community college the Saints really seemed to gell better offensively, winning the contest 73-46.

"I think that the difference between Saturday and Sunday was that we trusted each other better, Coach Dumont stated.  "The girls shared the basketball but more importnatly you could tell that they had the trust in one another which really helped us to get better shots."

Sydney Craig (18) and Alexis Brice (17) led the Saints in scoring against Finger Lakes.  Sydney also went 4-4 from the freethrow line and tallied 4 assists.

The Saints will look to Tompkins Cortlant Community Colleg on Friday in Dryden, NY.
