North Country Women Ranked #2 in National Polls

SARANAC LAKE, NY— The National Junior College Athletics Association released the third 2014-15 Women's Basketball Division III Top 10 Poll on Wednesday with North Country Community College moving from 7th in the poll to 2nd. The Saints additionally have moved from second to first rank in the Region III Coaches Poll.

The Saints (10-0, 9-0 Region III) reached the National rankings for the second time in school history after being ranked 7th in last weeks poll.  This season the Saints have posted two of the best victories in women's basketball history beating nationally ranked Mohawk Valley early in the season as well as beating nationally ranked Onondaga Community College.

"This team truly is a great group of girls that work hard everyday, they understand what it is like to be a team and everyone is willing to give up their own personal goals for the betterment of the team," said Head Coach Jerrad Dumont. "I am especially proud of our sophomores for leading us to this great accomplishment."

"I could not be more proud of Coach Dumont and his staff for this accomplishment. Coach Dumont rejuvenated the women's basketball program six years ago, so it is quite a feat," said Athletic Director Chad LaDue. "Personally, I am so proud of Jerrad, as an alumnus of NCCC and of the Saints basketball program, there is no better feeling than watching your former athletes succeed at the next level and beyond. I am very excited to see the future of all our women's athletics programs go even further."

The Saints will begin second semester with a home game on January 8th against Adirondack Community College .  Tipoff is slated for 5:00 pm with the men's game to follow.
