HERKIMER — Sophomore guard Damon Hunter scored a team-high 24 points as the North Country Community College men's basketball team knocked off No. 2 Herkimer County Community College 86-82 Wednesday.

The setback marked the Generals' (15-2, 12-1) first loss in Region III play, while the Saints improved to 14-4 overall and 9-4 in the region.

"We just made more plays than they did," North Country coach Daryl Crist said. "We've been working hard, and we believe we can contend with the top teams in the conference."

Derrick Felder poured in a game-high 38 points for Herkimer County.
