Saints Season Ended with Playoff Loss at Herkimer

HERKIMER — The North Country men's basketball team ran into Herkimer's strong defense and could not get much offense going.

The No. 7 Saints fell to the No. 2 Generals 93-65 in an NJCAA Region III Division III men's basketball quarterfinal Tuesday.

"Their defense was really good (Tuesday)," North Country coach Daryl Crist said. "We had a hard time getting good looks. When we did get good looks, we were not able to finish."

Tyquan Scott racked up 29 points for Herkimer, while Matthew Dallas chipped in with 19. Felix Riascos had 11.

Damon Hunter finished with a team-high 21 points to lead the Saints' offense. Malik Wilkinson also hit double figures with 12.

North Country ends the season with a 20-9 record.

"Our sophomores had back-to-back 20 win seasons," Crist said. "That's a great accomplishment for our sophomores. We started four out of five freshman, and they contributed a lot to our team this season.

"We ran into a really good team, and we hope our freshman can take the experience they got here and carry it over to next season."
