Saints defeat SUNY Delhi in a Close Match

SARANAC LAKE — The North Country men's basketball team went from leading by 18 to trailing by six Wednesday, but in the end, the Saints pulled out an 87-84 victory over SUNY Delhi.

Delhi led by six with about 1:40 left in the game. But Grant Webb got a steal and a 3-point play, North Country made a big defensive stop and Peyton McLaurin sealed it by hitting two foul shots in the final seconds.

McLaurin finished with 22 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Noah Guitymoore added 15 points, and Brian Donaire scored 14 and pulled down 13 rebounds. Jaquan McGill put up 12 points and played what coach Chad LaDue called "his best half of basketball for us."

The win pushed the Saints record to 20-9.

"Anytime you get to 20 wins playing in this region, that's a pretty good year," LaDue said. "So that was pretty exciting for the guys."

North Country opened the game on a 20-2 run and led 45-36 at halftime. LaDue said his team stayed in front until the last three-and-a-half minutes, when Delhi took the lead.

Delhi's Cesar Castro led all scorers with 35 points, and Lateek Anderson scored 26.

The Saints host Herkimer at 1 p.m. Saturday in their final regular-season game.
